About Dr. Myra Burgee, Rockville MD
Dr. Myra L. Burgee founded Applied Counseling & Psychoeducational Services in 1997 after working in both the private and public school settings and realizing the need for more indvidualized and applied psychoeducational services. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1995. Dr. Burgee completed her pre-doctoral internships at the Milton Hershey School in Hershey, Pennsylvania and in the Montgomery County Public School System. During her post-doctoral experience, she provided psychological services at the McLean School of Maryland and consultation services within Montgomery County Public School System.
Dr. Burgee's Doctoral Dissertation was conducted within the Howard County Public School System: A Case Study Analysis of the Intervention Effect of Goal Attainment Scaling in Consultation, May, 1995. She also co-authored with Dr. Roger W. McIntire and Dr. Donald K. Pumroy: Improving Retention Through Intensive Practice In College Survival Skills, National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, Summer, 1992.
Dr. Burgee grew up in Maryland and enjoys working with the diverse population in the Washington, DC area. As an educational psychologist, she finds most rewarding the unique opportunity to assist individuals identify their strengths and ascertain any barriers in the attainment of goals. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her daughters, exploring nature, hiking, exercising and reading.
